The MAG Takes Gold

Middle School Magazine Wins Top Honors
The MAG, Myths and Glyphs, Ranney’s award winning Middle School student-produced literary magazine, has received its third consecutive Gold Award from Columbia Scholastic Press.

“I am really, really proud of my editors and staff, particularly the 2007/2008 issue’s co-editors-in-chief, Vic Gainor and Lauren Harris, who are now 9th grade students, and The MAG’s layout editor, Paul Sondhi , now an 8th grader at Ranney,” says Lorrie Benditt, Middle School English teacher and The MAG’s faculty advisor.

The MAG, Myths and Glyphs, received 976 out of a possible 1,000 points, the highest number of points possible in the area of organization. Among the comments made about The MAG by Columbia judges were: “excellent mission statement,” ”great treatment of controversial issues, such as warfare and social concerns,” excellent photography,” “readable fonts,” and use of “graphics that did not overwhelm the spreads.”
