Beginners Make Traditional Visit to “Big” School

As is Ranney’s custom each October, Beginners participated in their own diminutive “crossing the lawn” tradition this past week.
As is Ranney’s custom each October, Beginners participated in their own diminutive “crossing the lawn” tradition this past week, making their way, with their teachers, across the campus from the Early Childhood Education Center to the Upper and Middle School Academic Complex, where they were warmly welcomed by Dr. Lawrence Sykoff, Headmaster of Ranney School. Seated in the main hallway, the Beginners watched and listened intently as Dr. Sykoff read the book, If You Take a Mouse to School, one of a series of very popular stories written by Laura Joffe Numeroff. The Beginners then visited Dr. Sykoff’s office where they each received a teddy bear, decked out in a blue Ranney sweatshirt.

For most of the 3-year-olds, this was their very first visit to the “big” school, a place they will come to know well as they progress from the Lower, to the Middle and Upper School, maybe becoming Ranney Lifers.
