Lower Schoolers Take "Liberties" with Boston Tea Party Reenactment

American Patriots and the Kings Loyalists sat down together for a friendly spot of tea today to mark the 235th anniversary of the Boston tea party.
American Patriots and the Kings Loyalists sat down together for a friendly spot of tea today to mark the 235th anniversary of the Boston tea party -- December 16, 1773. The fifth grade students, dressed in red for the loyalists or blue for the patriots, gathered in the Commons to commemorate the radical act that led to the start of the Revolutionary War. Just as the original patriots did in 1773, some of the students donned traditional Native American headdress to disguise themselves as Mohawk Indians. Rather than dump their tea in protest, however, the students preferred to “dunk” their biscuits into their tea while they listened to a variety of presentations and skits by their fellow classmates – a much friendlier way to enjoy their tea!
