Ranney Runners Feel the Magic at Disney Marathon

Congratulations to the 14 Ranney student athletes, one alumna and three faculty members; Dr. Noel Delgado, Eileen Wilton and Nancy King, for their outstanding showing at this year’s Disney World Marathon Weekend, held at Disney World, FL, held January 9 - 11, 2009.

Competing with over 45,000 participants from all over the world, the Ranney runners took on the course with enthusiasm, running under sunny skies and warm temperatures (78 degrees). Despite blisters and muscle soreness, all of our runners completed the half or full marathon in healthy condition and were able to enjoy the park afterwards.

Fifteen runners completed the half marathon while two current students, senior Lauren Hoffman and junior Jeremy Lessing, finished the full marathon with a time of five hours. Alumna Anna Rose Johnson was our fastest runner, dropping over three minutes from her 2008 half marathon time and finishing in 1:38, sixth in her age group! Of the returning runners, four dropped their times by over five minutes.

There were also six half marathoners new to our group, with Anthony Papetti running the fastest among the newcomers, crossing the finish line at 1:56.
