Ranney Junior Raises Money for Cancer Research

When Samantha Marc decided to sell ribbons to raise awareness about cancer research, she didn’t go to the local fabric store for supplies. Instead, the Ranney junior turned to paint and a paintbrush.
When Samantha Marc decided to sell ribbons to raise awareness about cancer research, she didn’t go to the local fabric store for supplies. Instead, the Ranney junior turned to paint and a paintbrush. Samantha created a brilliant display of 69 painted ribbons in the windows of the Upper School hallway leading to the Dining Hall. For $5 dollars each, students and teachers purchased a “ribbon pane” honoring cancer survivors, those still battling cancer or those who had lost their battle with cancer, each color representing a particular type of cancer. The project raised more than $350 dollars for the American Cancer Society and served as an important reminder of cancer’s impact on all of our lives.
