Congratulation are in order for several talented Ranney artists, whose work was recently showcased during 2009 Monmouth County Youth Art Month Exhibit, along with students representing other area schools, at the Middletown Arts Center.
The artwork created by eleventh graders Christopher Tomasetta, John Woolley and Stephen D'Onofrio; eight graders Jamie Drazin, Alex Seneca, Paul Sondhi and Anthony Vivona; and fourth graders Matthew Saker, Olivia Nisbet, Taylor Gill and Max Chalnick was selected for the exhibition by a panel of judges – a prestigious accomplishment considering that well over 500 works were submitted by students from throughout Monmouth County. The exhibit was on display for the public from March 14-26, and culminated in a standing- room-only reception on March 26, during which each student was called to the podium by his/her teacher and presented with a special certificate. The Ranney student participation was organized by art teachers Barbara Levine, Beverly Siranni, Ave Maria Walwark and Fine Arts chair Kate Greenberg.
The goal of the Youth Art Month Exhibition is to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. The original paintings, drawings and collages on display helped capture the spirit and imagination of New Jersey's talented students. The exhibit was open to students in grades K-12 from Monmouth County.
Visitors can view a sampling Ranney student artistry at the Copper Canyon in Atlantic Highlands, where the fourth grade’s “Starry Night” themed work can be seen gracing the restaurant’s walls.
