Lower School First Foray at Science Olympiad a Success

It may have been the Lower School’s first foray into the very competitive Science Olympiad, but if this past weekend’s results are any indication, the Lower School team has a great future ahead of them.
It may have been the Lower School’s first foray into the very competitive Science Olympiad, but if this past weekend’s results are any indication, the Lower School team has a great future ahead of them. Guided by science teacher Jennifer McDermott, budding Lower School scientists made the trip on Saturday, May 16, to Moorestown, New Jersey for the competition, placing fifth overall and earning a trophy, which is now on display in the Lower School reception area. They also earned placements in several Olympiad categories (see below). Although it was only the team’s first such competition, the other participating schools were very impressed with the school’s final placement.

“Our goal this year was to learn the Olympiad system as the rules are so very cumbersome,” said Head of Lower School Patricia Marshall. “However, the students superseded all our expectations and arrived very well prepared to compete with peers from other schools! Congratulations to Mrs. McDermott, the science department, all our promising environmentalists in the Lower School.”
