It was a great start to what will certainly be a very eventful year, as over 200 guests gathered on October 2, in RSPA Panther Hall, to kick-off Ranney’s 50th Anniversary year.
The evening began in the Lower School Gallery with an Alumni Art Exhibit, showcasing the paintings, photography, sculpture and textile creations of seven alumni artists. Guests, including parents, board members, faculty, staff and friends then moved into RSPA Panther Hall where the formal celebrations began.
Dr. Daniel Goldberg, chairman of the Board of Trustees, expressed his great pride in the school and addressed guests saying, “We can celebrate proudly thanks to you and your support over the years and the position to which you have elevated Ranney School, preparing it for another 50 years.” During the dedication of the Price Family Clock Tower, Dr. Goldberg called the Price family, Jamie, Stella and Madison ‘13 to the podium, Dr. Goldberg noted that the clock tower will be a landmark symbol for decades to come and become a model for how others can get involved and help support the growth and advancement of Ranney School. Madison Price spoke on behalf of his family, explaining why his family’s gift is so important to him. “I have been attending Ranney since pre-K and this is my eleven year here,” said Madison. “Throughout that history, Ranney has done a world of good for me. It has truly shaped me into the person I am today. With that said, I take great pride in seeing the clock tower every time I arrive on campus. It feels really, really good to be able to give back through my parents gifts and show our appreciation for not just what Ranney has done for me and my family, but what it has done for all the families within the Ranney community.” Madison’s dad, Jamie Price, added that their family gift could not have gone to a better institution. The Price family was then presented with an engraved plaque commemorating their enduring gift to Ranney School.
A warm welcome was offered to guests by long time Ranney Board Member Pat Kurdyla – who has been affiliated with Ranney School through the tenure of three Heads of School – and Susan Grosso, RSPA President. Dr. Goldberg and Dr. Lawrence Sykoff, Head of School, then prompted the audience in anniversary toast, officially marking the beginning of Ranney School’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.
