The MAG Once Again Captures First Place Honors

The Mag, Ranney’s award-winning Middle School literary and art magazine, has once again captured first place honors from the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA).

The MAG, Ranney’s award-winning Middle School literary and art magazine, has once again captured first place honors from the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA).

This year’s award, First Place with Special Merit, is the result of much hard work, according to Lorrie Benditt, Middle School English teacher and The MAG’s faculty advisor. “I’m very proud of my editors and staff,” she added. This year’s editors-in-chief were 9th graders Erika Serhus and Paul Sondhi.

The MAG received 970 points out of 1,000 in ASPA’s annual contest, with the highest marks accorded to organization, design and presentation. Among the comments made by ASPA’s judges stated, “Your magazine shows the efforts of talented and creative editors, writers, artists, photographers, layout designers, staff members and advisor.”

In addition to this recent accolade, The MAG has received several awards from Columbia Scholastic Press. Click here to view The MAG Tropical Edition and The MAG International Edition.
