Middle School Swimmers Excel at Ranney Invitational

The Middle School boys’ and girls’ swim teams were both victorious in the 2nd annual Ranney Invitational, held on Wednesday night, February 24.

The Middle School boys’ and girls’ swim teams were both victorious in the 2nd annual Ranney Invitational, held on Wednesday night, February 24. On the girls’ side, Madison Boyan was a double winner in the 100 IM and the 50 butterfly. Boyan captured the 100 IM title in 1:20.49, and clocked in at 34.30 in the butterfly, setting a new meet record in the process. Caroline Korey won the 50 freestyle in a meet record 31.93 and took second in the 100 Freestyle (1:09.54). Sixth grader Audra Smires set a new meet record in the 50 backstroke (38.93), and was second in the 100IM (1:24.22). The girls 200 freestyle relay team of Boyan, Korey and Smires also teamed up with Jillian Sallustio to place second in a school record 2:13.39.

 

The boys’ team lone individual victory came from Joe Canatatore in the 50 breaststroke when he lowered the meet and school record to 39.81. Cantatore joined Zach DiGiaro, Ronnie Geraghty, and Charlie Sabaitis to take the 200 freestyle relay in a school and meet record 2:04.98. In the 100 freestyle relay, DiGiaro, Geraghty, and Sabaitis joined Sean Callahan to set a new school and meet record, clocking 58.77. The boys and girls used their large depth to score points in every event of the meet. The final standings from the meet are listed below.
