Annual Activities Fair Draws An Enthusiastic Crowd

Upper School students had a wide selection of clubs and activities to choose from at this year’s recent Activities Fair.

Upper School students had a wide selection of clubs and activities to choose from at this year’s recent Activities Fair. An enthusiastic student crowd jammed Panther Hall to make their selections from an array of non-curricular, non-athletic activities for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Students were enticed and motivated to sign up for an activity of their choice by the colorful displays and enthusiasm of current club and activity members and faculty advisors. They canvassed the room of several dozen tables, which included such activities as Habitat for Humanity, Digital Photography, Horizons yearbook, Robotics, the Spanish Club, Model U.N., and the Stock Market Game. And this year, there were two new additions to the activities line-up: Show Choir (certainly inspired by the TV show Glee) and Sports Debate Club. The Creative Writing Club, the Technical Theater Club, the Science Research Club, and the French Club, were also seeking new members.

All Upper School students are required to participate in a minimum of one activity that meets weekly throughout the school year. Clubs, such as Academic Team and Model Congress, are chosen voluntarily and meet on an ad hoc basis. Students are encouraged participate in one or two clubs.

To obtain a complete list of clubs and activities, please contact Adam Materasso in Student Activities at ext. 5158.
