Varsity Girls’ Tennis Makes it to State Finals

The Varsity Girls’ Tennis team defeated Moorestown Friends and won the Non-Public ‘B’ South title yesterday.

 

The team beat Moorestown 5-0 at the beautiful Veteran’s Park in Hamilton, New Jersey, where Natalie Cantave ’12 saw a 6-0, 6-1 victory at Second Singles. Singles’ players, Charlotte Fleming ’11 and Diane Scavelli ’11, also brought wins for the Lady Panthers.


Meanwhile, at Doubles, Grace Farren ’11, with Elizabeth Betesh ’11, earned a 6-3, 6-1 triumph and Melissa

Cantave ’12, with Mariel Pearl ’11, garnered a 6-2, 6-1 victory.


This amazing performance on part of the Varsity Girls’ Tennis team will take it to the NJSIAA State Finals on Wednesday, October 20 against Newark Academy. The state finals will be played at Mercer County Park and will begin at 1:00 p.m.


The team will also look to defend its 2009 Prep State Championship in the 2010 NJISAA Tennis Championship which begins this weekend at the Pingry School.
