National Art Honor Society Brightens Up Lunch Break in Red Bank

Lunch Break in Red Bank receives spruced up blackboard courtesy of Ranney NAHS students.

Thanks to the efforts of the Ranney Chapter of the National Art Honor Society, the large blackboard that announces the menu of the day at Lunch Break in Red Bank has a new look. Now covered with chalkboard art of fresh fruits, vegetables, a turkey, a birthday cake where people’s names can be added to acknowledge their special day, pots and pans, garlic cloves, and more, the board welcomes all who come to Lunch Break. It even includes a large sub sandwich, which holds an inspirational quote of the day. The project involved 40 hours of community service work over two Saturdays, and the students had a wonderful time designing and executing the board under the direction of Kate Greenberg, Art Department Chair.

Faye Kapler, Volunteer Coordinator for Lunch Break, expressed their appreciation by saying, "What a delight to walk into Lunch Break this morning and see the completed blackboard. The Ranney artists outdid themselves. It's colorful, cheerful and so beautifully done. We just love it. On behalf of Gwen, myself, our volunteers and clients, thank you, thank you, thank you!"
