Ranney Hosts First Annual Color War Competition

The fifth week of Ranney Summer Programs ended with a first ever camp-wide Color War! Decked out in red or blue, with banners depicting their team’s names, each age group split up to compete in a variety of sports and activities from 9:20 a.m. until 3:35 p.m. In the end, only one team would prevail.

While campers ages three to six completed scavenger hunts, coloring contests, bean bag tosses and relay races for their color, children aged seven through nine took part in trivia games, bingo, soccer, kick ball and tug-o-war. Older kids from groups ‘R’ through ‘X’ also participated in the Color War with dodge ball, knock-out and capture the football competitions.

Overall, the fun-filled day of spirited activities came down to a tie-breaker event between counselors dressed in blue and red apparel. After a heated tug-o-war match, the blue team was named victorious. As a result, it was awarded a trophy made by children from camp art classes. Regardless of whether a winner or loser, Color War proved a huge success as each team showed sincere effort and Panther pride throughout every competition.
