Students to Join Ranney on Road to Spain

Upper School students — grades nine through 12 — are invited to spend this spring break with Ranney in the vibrant country of Spain!

Beginning March 23rd and ending April 1st, up to 40 students will join Ranney and Casterbridge Tours as they travel to such historic sites as Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo and Segovia. Tours of Barcelona will include exploration of the narrow streets and squares of the Barri Gotic, a visit to one of Spain’s most impressive cathedrals known as Barcelona Cathedral, and a trip to the Catalan region’s holiest place, Monestir de Montserrat.

Students will also explore the city of Madrid, complete with a visit to the Palacio Real, museums like the Prado, and the city’s most famous square known as Plaza Mayor. Meanwhile in the historic city of Toledo, Ranney’s voyagers will have the opportunity to see one of the greatest Gothic structures in Spain, the Toledo Cathedral, and journey to the massive monastery-palace known as El Escorial. The beautiful and romantic city of Segovia will allow students to discover the 12th century castle of Alcazar de Segovia and visit a Roman Aqueduct built nearly 2,000 years ago.

From the pounding rhythms of the Flamenco and the unique experience of the bullfight, to the food that brings all people together, Spanish culture is defined by a deep passion for life that is contagious to all visitors. Those interested in discovering the historical country of Spain this spring should deliver their deposits to Dr. Delgado, Dean of Students, by Friday, October 7, 2011.
