Girls’ Tennis Team Earns 4th Straight NJSIAA Non-Public ‘B’ South Sectional Title

The varsity girls’ tennis team captured its 4th straight NJSIAA Non-Public ‘B’ South Sectional Championship during a very close match at Moorestown Friends School on Monday, October 17, 2011.

While Natalie Cantave ’12 of Tinton Falls successfully defeated Moorestown 6-3, 6-3 at 2nd Singles and Giulia DiGuglielmo ’14 of Eatontown earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory over her opponent at 3rd Singles, the team’s deciding match was played by Ranney’s 2nd Doubles team comprised of Rachel Burstiner ’13 (Holmdel) and Paulina Braka ’15 (Elberon). Together, Rachel and Paulina won their first and third sets 7-6(7-4), 6-3, and guided the Lady Panthers to a 3-2 triumph over Moorestown.

This accomplishment marks the tennis program’s 4th consecutive Sectional title. “I am so proud of the girls for all the hard work and effort they are bringing to the court this season,” said Head Coach Christel Contrera.

The girls will play Newark Academy in the NJSIAA Non-Public ‘B’ State Championships on Wednesday, October 19 at Mercer County Park (Rain date scheduled for October 20th). The Ranney community wishes them lots of luck as they confidently continue on their journey to success.
