Varsity Indoor Winter Track Team Competes in First NJSIAA Competition

Ranney’s varsity indoor winter track team entered into an NJSIAA competition — the Non-Public Relay Championships at Bennett Arena in Toms River — for the first time on Sunday, January 15.

While the girls’ squad finished 19th overall, its 4x200 Relay team comprised of Melanie Scopellite ’14, Gillian Veralli ’15, Soroya Dookie ’14 and Anike Oladeji ’12 also earned a time of 2:14.54 at the event. From the boys’ squad, teammates Steven Jacobson ’14, Benjamin Puvalowski ’13, Grant Parker ’14 and Rishi Sharma ’13, ran the 4x200 Relay in 1:58.76.

Meanwhile in the girls’ Sprint Medley Relay, Jessica Natofsky ’12 (400), Emily Gordin ’15 (200), Anike Oladeji (200) and Madelaine Young ’14 (800) finished 20th overall with a final time of 5:48.11. Of the girls, Madelaine also ran a personal record of 3:18 in her 800-meter leg.

The team’s next meet of the season — the NJISAA ‘B’ Championships — will be held at Lawrenceville on Sunday, February 12, 2012.
