To honor those parent-volunteers who valiantly shape the lives of all students at Ranney, the school held a Panther Volunteer Recognition Breakfast in RSPA Panther Hall on Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
The morning’s breakfast began as Associate Director of Special Events and Parent Relations Tracy Mutchiga greeted a large array of parent-volunteers known for their participation within the Parent Teacher Advisory Council (PTAC), Ranney School Parents’ Association (RSPA), Board of Trustees and various other committees. “We could not do what we do without our help,” said Mrs. Mutchiga. “You are perfect role models for all of our students.”
According to Head of the Lower School and Associate Head for Academic Administration Patricia Marshall, volunteering requires a special kind of individual. “It involves so much more than just giving to something and moving on,” she said. “Giving requires a sense of empathy, connectivity, commitment and dedication.”
It is these above characteristics and values held by parent-volunteers that also shape students at Ranney into caring and selfless individuals who strive to fulfill things far greater than themselves each day. “Values are not taught, they’re caught,” said Head of School Lawrence S. Sykoff, Ed.D., as he thanked each parent-volunteer for being the driving force that has transformed Ranney into the well-rounded and privileged institution it is today. “I could not be more proud of what our school stands for,” he said. “Because of you all, I am proud to say that we perfectly emobdy our motto Knowledge, Vision and Honor.”
