Lower and Middle School Students Master Choral Class

On January 9, Ranney’s Lower and Middle School Chorus welcomed fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade choral students from the Indian Hill School in Holmdel to RSPA Panther Hall for a 90-minute collaborative Master Chorale Class. Led by Ranney music teachers Lilly Torrente and Lisa Geene and Indian Hill’s music director Meredith Thomas, the students shared warm-up and diction techniques and performed two songs each for their student counterparts before enjoying a snack and some time to socialize. They also learned to harmonize their voices and sang together.

“The master class offered a performance opportunity as well as experience in working with another choral director,” says Mrs. Torrente of the experience. “It was fun for the students and helped them connect with others who have similar interests. Overall, it was a great experience!”
