Join Us for Ranney School’s Winter Concert Series Part II

The Winter Concert Series continues with the music of The Middle and Upper School Bands on Thursday January 30, and the Lower School Chorus and Orchestra on Wednesday February 12.

If you love jazz, then don’t miss the energy and rhythm of the Upper School Jazz Band and the Middle School Concert Band as they grace the Roberts Stage in RSPA Panther Hall on January 30. Led by Mr. Kevin Cotter, the Upper School Band will perform tunes by John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and Chuck Mangione, as well as Coldplay. Many of the experienced players are members of the Tri-M Music Honor society and exhibit their leadership and musicianship on the bandstand as well as in the music classroom. Come and hear the music they are preparing to perform at the 46th Annual Rowan High School Jazz Festival later in February.

The Middle School band will take the stage with show tunes and classical repertoire suited for their level of advancement. Joined on stage by All-School Orchestra Director and faculty member Dr. Dorothy Sobieski and Early Childhood music teacher Mrs. Dot Lippart, the Middle School ensemble comprises the talents of some of the school’s finest and most dedicated student musicians. The Winter Band Concert is the highlight in a week designed to promote and honor our musical culture.

On Wednesday February 12, all are welcome to hear the promising young musicians of our Lower School Choral and Orchestra program. The evening aimed to spotlight our beginning and advanced beginning ensembles will present the budding Panther talents. It is sure to be a fun evening for all and will exhibit the skills and repertoire learned at mid-year of study. Led by Lower School Choral teacher Mrs. Lisa Geene and Dr. Sobieski, the students will play Classical pieces, folk songs and modern repertoire arranged for developing voices and techniques. It will certainly create a delightful evening for all.

The concert series is free of charge and open to all members of the Ranney community. Please join us to enjoy music from our talented students and celebrate all of their hard work:
