Indoor Track Takes Records to NJSIAA Non-Public Relay Championship

Team earned a top-10 finish at Monmouth County Championships.
 
Ranney's indoor winter track teams came away from the Monmouth County Championships with a top-10 finish and a handful of school records.
 
Marc Greenstein '18, competing in the 55 for the first time, finished 10th in the county with a school-record time of 7.04. Mo Odunlami '16, ran to a school record in the 55 with a 10.09, finishing mid-pack. Mo was second for Ranney in the 55, followed by Yong Hao (Jason) Wu '18 and Michael Zheng '18.
 
Fabio Tessiore '19 doubled up in the 400 and 800, finishing the 400 in 1:06.14, ahead of teammates Jason Wu and Michael Zheng.
 
This was the first indoor individual meet for all of the Ranney boys, showing strong promise.
 
For the girls, Olivia Metzger '19 and Mia Glass '19 took a one-two finish in their heat, running their first varsity 1600 in 6:11.97  and 6:12.62, respectively.  Athena Dookie '16 doubled for Ranney in the 400 and 55, finishing the 55 first for Ranney ahead of Sarah Awad '16, Niya Klayman '16, and Wei Xu '18.
 
The team competes in the NJSIAA Non-Public Relay Championship January 15.

Update on the NJSIAA State Relay Championships results (January 16)… Running unseeded in the spring medley, the foursome of Olivia Metzger '19-400, Sarah Awad '16-200, Athena Dookie '16-200 and Mia Glass '19-800, led their heat from gun to finish line. Their time of 4:54.31 was enough to knock out competition from the seeded heat, landing them with a 6th-place medal. In the 4 x 200, the girls' team of Sarah Awad, Mia Glass, Kayla Conley '18 and Athena Dookie bettered their personal best by a second, finishing in 2:11.85.
 
The boys' 4 x 200 relay team of Mo Odunlami '16, Yonghao "Jason" Wu '18, Michael Zheng '18 and Marc Greenstein '18 bettered their school record with a run in 1:50.13. The SMR team of Marc Greenstein-400, Mo Odunlami -200, Ethan Brandon '19-200 and Fabio Tessiore '19-800, finished 14th in 4:31.03.
 
Next up, the team will compete at the Mid-Winter Classic and the Shore Conference Championships!
