History Bowl Teams Head to Nationals

Our Upper School students competed against 90 state teams to earn path to national tournament.
Ranney’s History Bowl teams competed in the New Jersey State Championships on January 16, 2016 at Ridgewood High School. In a field of almost 90 teams, Ranney’s “A Team,” consisting of Upper School students Dean Parker, Greg Marx and Nicole Rasmussen made it to playoffs in the “Round of 32,” ultimately ranking 17th.

The “A Team” qualified for nationals at a previous tournament this school year, with the help of Rob Odell, Jake Card and Jerome Cohen. In individual competition, the following students also qualified for nationals: Dean Parker in both the Geography Olympiad and the U.S. History Bee; Varun Sikand and Katherine Bibilouri in the JV division of the US History Bee. In addition, Rob Odell and Charlie Fabricant scored spots at nationals for their individual performance.

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships will be held on March 12, and the National Tournament, taking place in Washington, DC, will be held April 22-24. The team is advised by Upper School History Teacher Marie Curry.
