Ranney Holds 2nd in Spring 2016 Fleet Race Championship

Eleven NJ Interscholastic Sailing Association (NJISA) teams gathered April 9 at the Toms River Yacht Club for the league’s Spring 2016 Fleet Race Championship. Teams had to cope with unpleasant sailing conditions in the shifty wind (5-15 mph), rain and occasional sleet as they sailed W4 and W3 courses as well as a full rotation of 22 races.

Christian Brothers Academy came out on top for the day with 61 points, followed closely by Ranney School with 65 points. Toms River North rounded out the top three with their 77 points. Rumson-Fair Heaven held on to a narrow lead over Southern Regional High, at times as little as two points, to finish in fourth place to earn the last qualifying berth for NJISA at the MASSA District Qualifier Championship. The championship takes place April 16-17 at The Water Front Center in Oyster Bay, NY.

Best of luck to all NJISA teams representing our league.
