Varsity Cross Country Comes in 6th at Prep B State Champs

The Varsity Cross Country team boys showed their mettle as they raced in the Prep B State Championships at Blair on October 26, 2016.
 
The team had three runners finish in under 19 minutes.  Liam Fitzmaurice '17 took 11th place, tying his personal record of 18:16.  Olukayode Oladeji '19, was four seconds behind in 12th place, and Jared Rush '17 finished 24th in 18:59.
 
Jackson Croke '19 came in fourth for the Panthers in 21:17, just 5 seconds shy of his personal best, while Winston Guo '19 ran a personal best of 24:32, dropping 30 seconds, and Carter Dibsie '20 lowered his best by more than a minute to finish in 25:32.  
 
The team finished in 6th place overall out of 10 participating schools,  The boys compete next at the NJSIAA Non-Public B Group Championship on November 12 at Holmdel Park.

UPDATE: The Ranney Cross Country Girls captured new personal records and a school record at the Shore Conference Championship and Shore Coaches JV Championship, at Ocean County Park on October 28, 2016.
 
Shana Fitzmaurice '19 , ranked 111 as she took the starting line for the Shore Conference Championship, scorching her way to 39th place, with a new school record of 19:31. The previous record was held by Alex Salani '05.
 
In the JV race, Mia Glass '19 medaled in 27th place, running a 20:57, and becoming the fourth fastest Ranney cross country runner ever!  Wei "Wennie" Xu '18 smashed her previous best by nearly 3 minutes, running 27:52.  Laura Lehrfeld '18 ran for a personal best of 30:35, as did Karen Lu, running 34:06. 
 
The girls head to the NJSIAA Group Championships on November 12.
