Robotics Celebrates Most Decorated Season Yet

Ranney Robotics is preparing for state and national competitions after its most impressive season to date. Since October 22nd, the team has won seven of eight events, including the latest competition at Middlesex on February 11, 2017 (see photos). Students have earned an average of 3.5 trophies per competition for a total of 28 trophies this year.
 
“This has been—by far—our  most decorated season,” says Robotics Advisor Chiara Shah. Highlights include:
 
  • Team M (Rylan Foy, Kevin Yu, and Connie Hall) has won 17 awards, including 5 Tournament Championships, 2 Finalist Awards, 5 Skills Champion Awards, 1 Excellence Award, 2 Build Awards, 1 Amaze Award, and 1 Think Award for programming.
  • Team J (Will Zheng, Mike Zheng, Jack DeNicola, and Dana Schioppo) has won 7 awards, including Ranney's first ever Design Award, 2 Tournament Championships, 2 Skills Champion Awards, and 1 Excellence Award
  • Teams A (Chris Glenn, Chip Johnson, Ben Iglesia, and Kayla Shah) and K (Will Fabricant, Nicole Rasmussen, and Kayode Oladeji) have each won 1 competition
  • Team D (Andrew Denton, Jacob Guss, Ryan Lubin, Jack Bacher) made it to the Finalist round in one competition.
“As we head to states on March 4, I want to thank all the administrators, parents, operations employees, and faculty who have supported us in so many ways,” says Mrs. Shah.
