Track & Field: Lewis Sets School Records; Fitzmaurices and Glass Pull Double Wins

Ranney Track and Field got off to a running start with a home meet versus Keyport on April 4, 2017. The boys had a hard-fought loss of 65-55, losing ground in the throwing events. Sophomore Scottie Lewis scored a hat trick, winning the 100, 200, and high jump, and setting new school records of 23.7 in the 200 and 6' in the high jump. Senior Liam Fitzmaurice pulled a double with wins in the 1600 and 800. 
 
Also scoring for Ranney were:
 
  • Sophomore Alex Klatsky, 2nd in the 400 hurdles, 800, and high jump
  • Junior Toby Savage, 3rd in the shot put, discus, and 200
  • Freshman George Sima, 3rd in the long jump
  • Sophomore Olukayode Oladeji, 2nd in the triple jump and 1600 and 3rd in the 800
  • Freshman Sam Novotny, 1st in the 3200
  • Freshman Jonathan Greenlow, 2nd in the 400
  • Freshman Shreyan Nageswaran, 3rd in the 400
  • Junior Mike Zheng earned a personal record in the 100.
 
The Ranney girls also held their own against Keyport, winning the running events, but losing by a score of 57-34, largely based on Keyport's superior throwers. Sophomore Shana Fitzmaurice doubled up for wins in the 1600 and 800, while sophomore Mia Glass won the long jump and the 3200, and took 2nd in the 600.  Also scoring for Ranney were:
 
  • Junior Laura Lehrfeld, 3rd in the 100.
  • Freshman Olivia Knoop, 3rd in the 1600
  • Freshman Nelly Fadi, 2nd in the 400 and 200.
 
The team meets Mater Dei and Henry Hudson at home on April 13.
