Jazz Bands Visits National Museum/Lincoln Center

The Upper School Jazz Band paid a visit to the National Jazz Museum in Harlem on April 7. They attended a lecture on how jazz evolved across New York City and viewed historical instruments, including a piano owned by Duke Ellington.

The group then went to Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola which is part of Jazz at Lincoln Center to see the Christian McBride Big Band. After dinner, students watched the band play numerous original and standard jazz pieces played by some of the best jazz musicians in the world.

Ranney's All School Band concert, directed by Mr. John Propper, will be on Wednesday May 31 at 7pm in Panther Hall.
