Spring Track Ends on High Note with Multiple School Records

Ranney’s spring 2017 track season ended on a high note at the NJSIAA Group Championships in Columbus, NJ on June 2nd and 3rd.
 
Liam Fitzmaurice ‘17, in his final race as a Panther, dropped three seconds off his school record in the 800, running 2:03.31 in the 800, finishing in 8th place. Liam finished 7th in the 1600 with his best time for the season and leaves Ranney holding school records in the 800, 1600; he is also the second-fastest cross country runner in Ranney history to date.
 
Shana Fitzmaurice '19 ran a season-best of 5:25.94 to take 7th place in the 1600. She finished the 800 in 2:29.71.
 
The season ends with a continuous stream of personal records earned by all of our athletes. New school records set this season included:
  • 400 hurdles: Alex Klatsky ‘19
  • 800: Liam Fitzmaurice ’17 and Shana Fitzmaurice ‘19
  • 200: Scottie Lewis ‘19
  • High Jump: Scottie Lewis ‘19
  • Triple Jump: Olukayode Oladeji ‘19
“Thank you all for a wonderful season, and thanks to all my athletes of years past for a rich coaching career,” says Coach King who is retiring at the end of this school year. "You are always in my heart."
