Ranney Robotics Wins First NJ VEX Competition of the Year

Ranney Robotics competed in the first VEX Competition in NJ for the 2017-2018 season on Nov. 11. The game this year is called "In the Zone" and requires robots to pick up cone shaped objects and score them in special zones.

There were four teams that competed.
Team B: Jack Bacher, Sandy Wilderotter and Jaren Nawy.
Team C: Alex Klatsky, Rohan Sharma, Luke Denver-Moore and Anna Effenberger.
Team G: Kiran Shah, Toby Savage and Rowan Cassidy.
Team M: Rylan Foy, Kevin Yu, Connie Hall and Mike Zheng.

The M team won the competition in an alliance with two Cherry Hill East teams, as VEX competitions always work in alliances of three robots.

In addition, the M team won the Excellence Award, which is given to the team at the competition that is the all-around strongest robot. The judges said, "This team exemplified a well-rounded performance on and off the field. They also demonstrated excellent interview skills as well as a solid notebook."
