Panthers' Basketball Season Opens on Friday Night

Friday night will buzz in the official start of the 2017-18 basketball season at Gerhard Pavilion for Athletics (GPA) as the boys' basketball team takes on Point Pleasant Beach High School in a Division Game at 5:30 p.m., with the JV team starting at 4 p.m. Ranney is embarking on this season as a highly touted commodity, ranked No. 15 in HS Hoops Elite 2017-18 Top 25. The Panthers were also slotted at No. 39 in BallIsLife.com national rankings.
 
Junior Bryan Antoine averaged 20.5 points, four rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.4 steals per game last season to earn Third Team All-State honors, while classmate Scottie Lewis averaged 16.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.5 blocks per game last season.
 
On Friday, the the doors will open for ticket sales at 4 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and children. Ranney students, faculty and staff are free with their Ranney ID. 

The girls' varsity team will open its season at Point Pleasant High School at 4 p.m. on Friday night. 
 
On Saturday, there is a home triple header, as girls’ varsity basketball opens its home season at GPA against Keansburg at 10 a.m., boys JV basketball plays the Titans at 11:30 a.m. and the boys’ varsity team suits up again for a 1 p.m. matchup.
