Ranney Community Across the Globe

A few weeks ago, Savior Akuwovo ’18 addressed the student body on his preconceptions of America before arriving here. When he made it to America two years ago, it was nothing like he had imagined. "I think many of you also have preconceptions about my home, Nigeria, and they're probably wrong."
 
Ms. Shah (Computer Science and Robotics) was inspired by Savior's talk and met with him several times to brainstorm on how to make an app to share with the Ranney Community about Nigeria.
 
On Dec. 13, Savior again spoke during the Town Hall meeting, this time dressed in traditional Nigerian clothes. He spoke about how little actions can have such a positive influence on someone else and invited everyone to reach out to other people and do something nice for them. He spoke about the positive people who have made a difference in his life, such as the family who took him in when he came to America and gave him a home and Ms. Shah, who had made this app to help him tell his story.
