MS Ensembles Participate in 2018 Music in the Parks

Congratulations to the 56 members of the Ranney Middle School Ensembles (Band, Chorus and Orchestra)who successfully participated in the 2018 Music in the Parks Festival on Friday, June 1.

The day started with a performance adjudication at Freedom High School for Chorus and Nitschmann Middle School for Jazz Band and Orchestra, both located in Bethlehem, PA. “Middle School students performed selections from their current repertoire, demonstrating poise, confidence, as well as pride in representing Ranney School on stage,” said Dr. Dorothy Sobieski, Performing Arts Department Chair. Each ensemble received positive, supportive and encouraging comments from the adjudicators.

After the festival portion of the day, students, faculty and parent chaperons headed to Allentown, PA to celebrate this year's musical accomplishments on the rides of Dorney Park. Along with other participating schools, students explored the park's roller coasters, rides, arcades and shops, and shared their experiences in music with like-minded peer musicians. The results of the festival (listed below) were announced at an Awards Ceremony at the end of the day.

“It was a great experience for all, and memories made will surely remain with students, faculty and chaperons for many years to come,” said Dr. Sobieski. “Please take a moment to congratulate our young musicians on their impressive accomplishments.”
