Ranney Sailing Team Sweeps NJISA Qualifying Regattas

The Ranney Sailing team won the NJISA Fall Fleet Championship on Saturday, Sept. 29 before winning the NJISA Fall Team Race Championships on Sunday, Sept. 30.

Sixteen schools competed in the NJISA Fall Fleet Championship for the right to advance to the MASSA District Gold Championships in Hampton, Virginia.   Saturday’s conditions were challenging to the point of an hour and a half postponement due to poor conditions.  After the postponement, the Panthers won the next three straight races, cementing their victory and guaranteeing them a place in the MASSA District Championships.

On Sunday, the Panthers took to the water to compete in the NJISA Fall Team Race Championships in a round robin format against 5 other schools.  Ranney was undefeated (10-0) in team competition and earned the right to advance to the MASSA Fall Team Championship at SUNY Maritime.

Ranney Sailing Team: Luke Arnone, Blake Epstein, Cameron Giblin, Matthew Hamelsky, Catherine Vucetic William Beyer, John Cocozza and Brooke Schmelz.  Coach: Clay Johnson.
