Riya Sikand ‘24 Published in The Concord Review

The Concord Review will be publishing a history paper by Riya Sikand ‘24 on Judith Sargent Murray in our Winter Issue of the journal that will come out next week.

The Concord Review was founded in March 1987 to recognize and publish the exemplary history essays by high school students in the English-speaking world. With the Winter Issue, over 1,500 research papers (average 8,500 words, with endnotes and bibliography) have been published from authors in 47 U.S. states and 47 other countries. TCR remains the only quarterly journal in the world to publish the academic history papers of secondary students.

“We are certainly grateful for Riya's submission and wanted to highlight her accomplishment (we only publish about 6% of the essays we receive),” said Robert L. Nasson, Editor of The Concord Review. “TCR believes that the pursuit of academic excellence in history in secondary schools should be given the same attention as other academic subjects. By recognizing 11 students from around the world in every issue, we believe we are doing that.”

“Riya's publication represents a tremendous scholarly achievement and contributes to collective understanding in the humanities,” said Ranney School History Department Chair Dr. Tom Brinkerhoff. “Her rigorous research and nuanced arguments bring to life the historical significance of Judith Sargent Murray, a prominent writer during the Early American Republic."
