Mangano and Jr. World Team Win Bronze at Global Fencing Championships

Sophomore Ariana Mangano and the U.S. Junior World Team won Bronze at the World Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships, held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria April 1-10, 2017. Team USA won 11 medals in all during the 10-day International Fencing Federation event, which featured men’s and women’s epee, foil, and sabre teams from approximately 30 countries (1 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze). Ariana earned a spot on the 38-member Team USA earlier this season; the full squad includes seven medalists from past Junior and Cadet World events. One of the youngest members on the team, Ariana has been recognized as “one of the most successful young epee fencers on the domestic circuit this season, winning silver in the Division I event at the December North American Cup and taking both junior and cadet golds at the November NAC,” reports USA Fencing, the country’s national governing body for the sport of fencing (full story).

Congratulations to Ariana and the U.S. Junior World Team!
