Need-Based Financial Aid

Ranney School understands and appreciates the financial commitment that families undertake in deciding to send their children to Ranney. The school also acknowledges that difficult economic times call for innovative solutions for financing a wonderful and stable educational experience for your children. Although paying for education is first and foremost the responsibility of a family, Ranney School is able to offer funds through a financial aid budget dedicated to assisting families.

In recent years, Ranney School has increased both the number of families receiving need-based assistance as well as the amounts allocated. We awarded more than $750,000 in need-based financial assistance for the 2016–2017 school year, with approximately 10% of the student population receiving aid and average gifts around $11,000. (Please note that Ranney School is unable to offer full awards covering all tuition and fees.)

Families of students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 are eligible to apply for need-based financial aid. The Financial Aid Committee allocates funds annually after consideration of a family’s need and to the extent that financial aid funds are available. The application for a renewal of aid must be completed annually. When a student is provided with an initial aid award, it is our intention to attempt to maintain a similar level of financial support throughout that student’s entire career and prior to the review of any new aid applications. It is also the intention of the Financial Aid Committee to review all current families that have reapplied for aid, prior to review of any new aid applicants.

How to Apply for Financial Aid Each Year

The 2019-2020 Financial Aid application season is now open. Ranney School works with a third-party called FACTS Management / Grant & Aid Assessment to assess financial-aid need. Families can apply online by clicking this FACTS link. As part of the online application, the following documents will need to be sent directly to FACTS (see fax, mail, and upload information below) to complete the process:
  • Copies of your 2017 and 2018 Federal 1040 tax forms, including all supporting tax schedules and attachments
  • Copies of supporting documentation for Welfare, Child Support, Food Stamps, and Workers’ Compensation (not all applicants will have such items)
All supporting documentation can be uploaded in PDF format online. Documentation can also be faxed to 866-315-9264 or mailed to the address below. Please be sure to include your FACTS applicant ID number on all faxed or mailed correspondence.

Preliminary Early Award Applications

To be considered for a preliminary early award decision, families must complete their online FACTS application, and submit their 2017 Federal 1040 Tax Returns along with all supporting business schedules and attachments, to FACTS by January 25, 2019 to allow for the system’s two-week processing time. Applications will be reviewed after that date , and Ranney School will send preliminary award notifications to qualified families no later than March 1, 2019.

Families who receive a preliminary award based on their 2017 tax information will STILL be required to submit their 2018 Federal 1040s to FACTS once available in order for current income to be verified. This may result in a change in your preliminary award.  Please note that preliminary early awards are contingent on receiving your 2018 tax documents no later than August 1, 2019.

Again, all applications completed after January 25 will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and awards granted if funds remain available.

If you have questions or concerns about the application process, you may speak with a FACTS Customer Care Representative at 866-441-4637 or contact financialaid@ranneyschool.org.
