Ranney Students Awarded Honors at Jersey Shore Science Fair

On Saturday, March 14, eight Ranney students, six from Science Research Honors and two students conducting research independently, participated in the Jersey Shore Science Fair (JSSF) held at Stockton University. This event is representative of a professional science and engineering poster session, and requires students to present their research verbally to judges.

I am proud to announce the following awards presented to our students:
  • First Place, Environmental Science:  Quinlan Miller ‘26, Every Drop Counts: Using Intelligent Moisture Sensing to Conserve Water
  • Second Place, Team Project:  Pu (Stephanie) Sang ‘28 and Ziyuan (Hannah) Shu ‘26,  Design of an early detection system for food spoilage based on a low-cost gas sensor
  • Third Place, Botany.  Thomas Tropiano ‘26,  Determining minimum conditions for plant growth on Mars.
  • Honorable Mention, Computer Science, Xinge  (Holly) Ye ‘26 Application to Combat Societal Isolation in International Students.
As category winners, Quinlan, Stehanie, Hannah, and Thomas are invited to advance to the Delaware Valley Science Fair 2026 (DVSF)  on March 31-April 2.  The DVSF is affiliated with the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), and will send its top placing projects to compete in ISEF.

Congratulations to these students on their hard work and achievements!
